In baseball Derek Distasio had two hits scoring one run and hitting another runner in as Berwick narrowly defeated Crestwood in Boys Varsity Baseball Monday May 5 in Mountaintop. Anthony Caladie had two hits with four at bats also scored a run and an RBI. Jonathan Wychock had two hits and a run. Also getting hits were Brian Markowski, Curt Yenchick, , Matt Darden and Tyler Jones. The Comets had 11 total hits.

Hazleton dominated Crestwood Boys Varsity Baseball Tuesday May 6 winning 12-2. Ethan Markowski knocked in two runs scored by Derek Distasio and Anthony Caladie for Crestwood.


The Crestwood Ladies Lacrosse team clobbered Pittston Area 12-7 on the winners home turf Monday May 5. Daniella Callaghan scored 6 goals and Lizzy Dessoye added three. Hannah Ackers scored two goals and Allison Geroski had one. Ackers Callaghan and Dessoye each assisted on a goal and Paige Zaleppa had six saves.

Crestwood defeated North Pocono 9-3 in Wyoming Valley Boys Lacrosse Tuesday May 6. Jay Popson had three goals and Andy Bobnysky had three goals and two assists. Bailey Braumann had 20 saves. +++++

Berwick came out on top against Crestwood 95-45 in Boys Varsity Track and Field Monday May 5. Among the highlights were Crestwood ‘s Jacob Walsh who won the 110 hurdles in 16.0 and the 300 hurdles in 43.7.2. Walsh also won the Hugh Jump with a 5-0. Crestwood’s Dylan Perrione won the 100 yard dash in 11.7.2. Pole Vault was won by Crestwood’s Chris Lukashewski with 11-6.

The Crestwood Girls Track and Field was also challenged by Berwick 93-56. The Lady Comets won the 3200 Relay with the team of Gabby Termini, Kailee Traficante, Ashleigh Thomas and Meghan Knorr. Traficante also won the 1600 m with a time of 5.51 and the 3200 in 12:16 . Teammate Allison Kachel was second. Crestwood’s Knorr also won the 800 m with 2:39. The High Jump was won by Crestwood’s Jenny Katula with 5-0. Thomas was third. The Pole Vault was taken by Ellie Bennett with a 9-6. Crestwood’s Julianna DeLuca won the Javelin with a 102-5 throw.

The Lady Comets dominated Tunkhannock in their 114-36 win in Wyoming Valley Track and Field Wednesday May 7. Kailee Traficante wonthe1600m in5:31andthe3200 in 12:10. Other first place winners were: Taryn Wojnar, 100 yd Hurdles 17.6; Simone Scally, 100 m 13.9; Maggie Dow, Triple Jump 30’1/2”; Kailee Krupski 400 m, 1:07:08; Ellie Bennett 300 Hurdles, 53.0; Jessie Bonnevier, Discus 93-10; Megan Knorr, 800 m 2:36:9; Julie DeLuca, Javelin 101-0; and Jennifer Katulka, High Jump 5-0. The Girls Varsity also won all three relay races.

The meet also included Dallas, who came out on top over Crestwood 78-62 dominating in the running events.

The Crestwood Boys Varsity lost to Tunkhannock 96-54 and also to Dallas 112-38 in the three way meet May 7. Against Tunkhannock Jacob Walsh won the hurdles with 110 in 16 seconds and the 300 in 44.1. Dylan Perrone won the 100 yard dash and the 200 m. Cody Burnett won Shot Put with a throw of 35-10 3/4” and Chris Lukashewski won the Pole Vault with 11’6”. Against Dallas, Jacob Walsh’s wins in the hurdles and a High Jump of 5’8” helped Crestwood’s cause. John Filipczyk placed first in the Long Jump with 18-8 1/4”.

as the winning softball pitcher Samantha Varela pitched a one-hitter Thursday May 8. Crestwood’s Alyssa Davies gave up 10 hits, 5 runs, struck out 7 and put two players on base with walks. Meghan Waite had a double for Crestwood, the losers only hit of the game.
