White Haven Area Community Library Plans Spring Festival

To celebrate the first anniversary of the White Haven Area Community Library & Visitor Center’s opening in the restored Lehigh Valley Railroad Engine House, the Board of Directors has planned a spring festival for May 23 and 24.

On Friday, May 23, the Board will host a cocktail party for adults from 6:00-8:00 at the library, located at 99 Towanda Street in White Haven. Library members and the community are invited to enjoy homemade hors d’oeuvres and desserts, wine and nonalcoholic beverages, good fellowship, music, and an opportunity to see how the library has grown and expanded services and programs over the past year.

On Saturday, May 24, families are invited to participate in a variety of activities for children and adults from 10:00 a. m. until 3:00 p. m. Scheduled events include a historic walk along the Lehigh Gorge at 11:00, face painting from 10-12 and 1-3, and pony rides from 12:00-1:30. Throughout the day, children can enjoy a big inflatable bounce house and children’s games and crafts, while adults can browse a book sale, bake sale, plant sale and much more. Activities and displays are planned throughout the day, so plan to have lunch at the refreshment stand that will feature hot dogs, cold drinks, and other snacks. Volunteers will be on hand to issue library cards to new members. A full schedule for both days will be posted in the library.

Join the celebration of our first year in the Engine House and let us know what you’d like to see in years to come. For more information, call 570-443-8776 or visit the library at www.whitehavenlibrary.com.
