Kirby Library Announces Special Activities In May

Marian Sutherland Kirby Library, Mountaintop, announces the following events in May:

Lego Club: Join us on Saturday, May 3 from 1—2:30pm. We provide the Legos, you enjoy free Lego play with new friends! For ages 2 –11.

Teen Reading Lounge: TRL is an interactive book club for teens 12 –18. Join us on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 as we watch the film The Princess Bride and compare it to the book. On Tuesday, May 20 at 6:30 we will discuss Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Call or visit to register.

The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) will meet on Wednesday, May 14th at 6:30pm. This month we’ll discuss the upcoming summer reading program. It’s never too late to join TAG! For grades 6 –12.

New! Book Club: Starting on Saturday, May 17th at 12pm , the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library will begin a monthly book club for adults. Our first selection is The Engagements by J. Courtney Sullivan. This sweeping novel begins with the story of Frances Gerety, the copyrighter for DeBeers who coined “A Diamond is Forever” and takes us through the intertwining stories of different couples throughout the decades. Children’s Book Club: For ages 7 –11! We will meet on Saturday May 17 at 1pm. Pick up a copy of our selection, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. Thirteen year old Brian Robeson is stranded in the wilderness with just his hatchet and has to survive all by himself. Copies are available at the circulation desk when you register!

Furry Tails Reading Partners! Is your child a shy or hesitant reader or do they just love to read? Visit the Library at 6:30pm on Wednesday May 28 and your child can read to certified therapy dog! These gentle and sweet dogs love to be read to! Call or visit to register. Child must be able to read independently.

Homework Help with Ms. Michelle! Join Ms. Michelle every Thursday from 3—5pm and she’ll help you with any homework or school projects. Even if you can’ make it on a Thursday, one of our librarians is always here to help you!

One-on-One eReader Help Sign up for a half hour, one-on-one session on Saturday, May 31 between 9:30am and 12:30pm. Learn anything from the basics to how to download eBooks for free. Call or visit to register, space is limited.
