Dylan Bassham, a 2013 Wyoming Seminary grad and currently a student at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, has been invited to play for China in the Men’s Lacrosse World Championship Games. These events are sponsored by the Federation for International Lacrosse (FIL) and are held every four years. This year the games will be played July 10-19 in Denver, Colorado.
The 2014 World Championship brings together teams from the United States, Canada, and a record 36 other countries to participate in the 10-day tournament.
Last summer Dylan played for Team China in the Asian Pacific Lacrosse Games in Beijing, China. At Rollins College he is a middie and scored three goals as a freshman in helping to lead Rollins to its most successful season in school history. On Team China, he is one of seven players who have played collegiate lacrosse in North America.
In Denver, China will compete in the Green Division against teams from Italy, Norway, and the Netherlands. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports around the world, and China is one of nine
nations that will be competing in the Games for the first time.
A resident of Mountain Top, Dylan has been involved in setting up a crowdfunding website to raise donations to support the trip. Team China relies exclusively on private funding to make it to Denver, and all of its players are reaching out to their home communities for donations.
